A comprehensive educational program is provided by the Montgomery County Public School, (MCPS) System to JLG-RICA students. The educational program is determined by each student's Individual Education Plan, (IEP), in conjunction with the MCPS curriculum for elementary, middle, and high schools. Instruction is provided in a highly structured classroom setting which includes a rigorous behavioral management system.
All JLG-RICA students are assigned a primary therapist, psychiatrist, and expressive therapist (art, music, and movement). Mental health support is available for RICA students throughout the school day, as well as after school for residential students. In addition to academic studies, comprehensive career preparation and vocational career awareness opportunities are available. Students are guided as they transition out of high school and look forward to living independently, including college, technical school and/or employment.
The RICA Association supports the JLG-RICA School by providing funding for school projects and supplies including the annual science fair, science labs, computer software, as well as resources for music, art, and movement therapies. The RICA Association provides funding for needy families for transportation for family therapy, Saturday School, school supplies and athletic gear for sports programs.
